CORNWALL

A bunch of Bangaloreans in London decided to get together, rent a BUS; well almost. It was a big Mercedes 8 seater Viano. Rent a cottage in Bude, Cornwall over the 4 day easter bank holiday and off we went. It was 4 days of driving, sight seeing, amazing food, indoor games and lots of talking with all the fun possible. We covered Tintagel, Lands End, Sennen, Durdle Door and a few random stop overs in Cornwall.

RENDEZVOUS - JULY 2011 & MOVIE MASALA- Delhi Belly

Type: Movie Masala
Date: July 2, 2011
Start Time: 15.30hrs

End Time: 1.00 am (A few left around 10.00 pm)
Location: Cineworld in Trocodero in Shaftsbury avenue; Katti Roll and Procupine Pub in London
Description:Bollywood movie Dehli Belly, dinner and drink

Attendees: Varun Rajendra, Roopa Rao, Tina Chaaba, Nish Karayi, Manu Pillai, Vineetha Nair, Indira Nagesh, Nuthan Meda Jaganath, Pallavi Bhaskar

Loads of popcorns, ice cream, aerated drinks and home made chaklis; there is no more perfect place to munch than inside the acoustic applied walls of the cinema. But little did I think the virtual stink emitting from the huge screen would put us off our crunchy snacks. With a heard of 11 Bangaloreans, Delhi Belly was the perfect movie to watch. All you needed was just tickets. What about mental modesty and decency? Sorry no entry! The rapid flow of funny sequences left no time to be embarrassed, flustered or even to smother your laughter at the raunchy scenes.
It was exciting to catch a movie with total strangers, tied with a string called ‘Bangaloreans in London/UK’.  This was followed by Vivek’s Kati roll adventure, the perfect place to break the ice. Unintentional as it was, we enjoyed wading through the streets of Piccadilly Circus filled with colourful people carrying a lot of pride. Amidst the chaos Indira convinced the group to explore the oriental lanes of Soho. We then headed to a pub, the name of which I can’t remember (I am a teetotaller, so don’t image things). After a few drinks and lots of gup shup, a few headed home, while the rest of us hung around Leicester Square to dig into Chinese. Luckily I did not end up with a Karachi Crouch after all the hogging. So looking forward to the next event on July 23, 2011, sure we will have a huge turn out!  Thank you guys for the Bombat evening!   Tumba maja madidvi!
Just a thought: They fell sick in India and called it Delhi Belly, no wonder we nick named our loos after their capital!

Two of the finest North and South Indian musicians join together to present a unique musical duet with tabla accompaniment, playing a selection of ragas from both the traditions with some new music written specially for this collaboration. The beautiful sound of sitar blends well with the Violin and both complement each other exploring the moods of the ragas.

Known for his contribution to Indian music education in the UK, he was the first artistic director of SAMYO (National South Asian Youth Orchestra) and TARANG (UK’s Indian classical music ensemble).

Rendezvous July 2008

Date: 12th July 2008
Time: 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Place: HR Higgins Coffee Man, 79 Duke Street, London W1K 5AS
Attendees: RameshSR, Divya Kaiwar, Ajit Kaiwar & Vivek

After a bit of hiccup and lost enthusiasm to conduct any of the meet ups for the community, I said well life goes on, i love visiting coffee shops and in spite of who comes or not i shall go and sit in the coffee shops and if someone does turn up its just an added bonus. An interest from about 10 people prior to the meet saw a turnout of only 3. I myself was delayed by 1:30 hrs due to problem with the central line on the underground. When i did reach exactly when the coffee shop was closing, met up with Ramesh whom i already knew and the couple of Divya and Ajit.

HR Higgins, the coffee shop is a small coffee shop off Bond Street and has a wide variety of coffee and tea's. The coffee shop is located downstairs and has very limited seating. They serve a range of coffee's and tea's along with cakes and biscuits.
A nice place to spend an evening.

In continuation with an avergae but successful turn out of Bangaloreans in London wanting to meet each other the popular Rendezvous series was just more than a year old. A huge turn out in the last year's episode and after having met some wonderful people was looking forward to kick start this year's meet with a bang. However inspite of a turnout of over 8 expected, only 2 other people in the couple of Kiran and Ramya turned up at 5:30pm at the wonderful cafe Arancina in Notting Hill. A wonderful vibrant coffee shop with some lively music and great coffee and pizzas.

This is the place to meet some delightful people in some of the best cafe's in salubrious London for all the charismatic Bangaloreans in London/UK.

Would i go back: YES

http://www.scooterworks-uk.com/

Lot can happen over coffee with: Asha, Nasira, Prakash Belawadi and Vivek

On a beautiful evening we went back to this cafe for our second visit and first for a few. Scooters and coffee have been associated with Italy for a long time. This cafe has been set in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Tiny and cosy this is the perfect place in London where you can pass your time having a chat, playing some interesting board games, practicing your italian or just relaxing and reading a book while watching the cats in the shop move around you lethargically. The coffee has all varieties and are very reasonably priced. There is no food available in this cafe.
